Tailor Your Marketing to Gen Z: The Fully Digital Generation

logo-z-generation-B-41Now that you’ve nailed down your marketing strategy to millennials, brands and companies need to turn attention towards the rising demographic, Generation Z. Gen Z are teenagers 19 and younger. They’ve grown up in a fully digital world with full access to the Internet. This group is comprised of digital natives, but it is important to note that they are not naive. They respond well to genuine brands. It’s increasingly imperative to revise your marketing strategy to Gen Z since it is reported that they contribute approximately $44 billion to the U.S. economy. Here are four ways to tailor your marketing to Gen Z:

Don’t use Facebook— Although millennials and Generation Z have a lot in common, there are some disparities. Generation Z is even more fluent in social media and the online reality. This means they prefer different social media channels. Generation Z tends to favor Whisper, Snapchat and Secret, not Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Treat them like entrepreneurs— Generation Z is more likely than any other generation to convert their hobbies into full-time jobs. A large sum of this group have documented dreams of being entrepreneurs. Since they’re native to social media, they use it for research on their hobbies, jobs and dreams. They know what it takes to be successful.

Take advantage of video— With the increasing use of social media, the attention span of consumers has shortened. It is important to focus marketing directives on visuals, not text. For example, infographics would be a great way to show a lot of data. But videos are the best way to grab the consumer’s attention. Gen Z also watches twice as many videos on mobile devices as any other generation.

Humor is number one— This demographic responds extremely well to an appealing sense of humor. Infuse humor into your brand personality and create videos that are funny to Gen Z. But, be careful not to try to be Gen Z with acronyms like YOLO or LOL; they’ll know it’s ingenuine. Instead, play off current pop culture for humor. Miley Cyrus and cat videos are sure to catch Gen Z’s attention.

Customer Spotlight: St. Louis Breast Cancer Coalition Increases Awareness

NJC Printing wanted to take some time to recognize our fantastic clients and vendors. We truly appreciate your business and our monthly Customer Spotlight is just one of the ways we like to show it.

Since October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we decided to put the spotlight on the St. Louis Breast Cancer Coalition this month.

Their History: Following the precedent of the National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC), a grassroots advocacy organization which was founded in 1991 in Washington, DC, a small group of survivors and activists in Missouri formed the St. Louis Breast Cancer Coalition (SLBCC) in 1992.

Over the years SLBCC members have traveled to Washington numerous times to participate in NBCC events. These events have included Annual Conferences, training weekends, Lobby Days on Capitol Hill, and events at the White House. Here in St. Louis, SLBCC has sponsored many educational events as well as the occasional fundraiser. Our members have staffed SLBCC information tables at many other local community events, and some have traveled to Missouri’s State Capitol to sit on statewide advisory boards or take part in a Lobby Day there.

About SLBCC: The St. Louis Breast Cancer Coalition is a non-profit grassroots organization committed to the eradication of breast cancer through:

  • Increasing public and government awareness of breast cancer-related issues.
  • Promoting improved funding for quality breast cancer research.
  • Striving for assurance of access to quality health care and medical resources for all women.
  • Providing community education, including informational programming, concerning breast cancer-related matters. To support its efforts, the SLBCC raises funds in a variety of ways:

Fundraising: To support its efforts, the SLBCC raises funds in a variety of ways:

  • Membership dues are $30.00 annually.
  • Tributes are contributions to SLBCC in memory of or to honor individuals, to send wishes for good health, to commemorate births, birthdays, anniversaries–or other special occasions. Click here to download a Tribute Form.
  • Donations are gifts given by groups and members of the community to support the mission of the SLBCC.
  • House Tour. The SLBCC House Tour is our signature fundraiser. Each time, this event showcases a stunning home generously opened by the owners for others to tour for a small fee.

To learn more about this wonderful organization and how you can support them, please visit their web page at http://www.slbcc.org.
